With Sumer in full swing, vacation & travel plans are at the ready. Traveling with your dog is a rewarding experience & memories that will last a life time. Be prepared for the unexpected with a our simple check list.
Stock up on a couple extra gallons of fresh bottled of water from home can keep your dog well hydrated & cool during those inconvenient times.
- Traffic Jams
- Lack of Facilities
- Excitment & unpacking
Check your travel guides for road side facilities that allow pets. Make sure your vaccinations are up to date before allowing your dog to take a walk in unfamilar places.
- Adeno Virus
- Parvo Virus
- Rabies
- Bordetella
- Talk to your Veterinarian, for further professional recommendations.
Travel with your canine best friend in a roll proof/airline/Veri Kennel that is well vented and has adequate room for your dog to stand up & turn around. Comfortable & inexpensive kennel pads can be added for his comfort.
Many online line travel sites, MapQuest, Google & Rand McNally have a weather services - "5-day Forecast"

- Pending storms (thunder & lightening)
Locate a veterinary facility or an emergency veterinary facility in the area that you will be traveling to.
- Always have a copy of your dogs health & vaccine records
- Bring your dogs medications in the original labeled bottles provided by your Veterinarian
- Invest in a basic First Aide Kit for Dogs.
- Bring extra food. Starting a new food while away from home, can result in stomach upset, this is no time for doggie diarrhea.
Know the basic signs of heat intolerance
- Excessive panting
- Increase salivation (drooling)
- Fatigue
- Nose & mouth area are warm to touch
