After having teamed up at the historic Mission Inn in Riverside, California for the greater part of the last decade, award-winning Executive Chef Victor Juarez and partner Dennis Sperat have ventured out on their own in the city of Montclair. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available, and the menus do not feature the standard fare you would expect to find on Central Avenue in Montclair. Offering exceptional food at reasonable prices is their motto, while providing the best service in a casual setting. Montclair Gem
We discovered this fabulous restaurant about a year ago and have returned many times. The food is beautifully prepared, the menu offers a broad range of selections, the wine list though small is excellent, and the desserts are divine. For this quality of food and delightful service, you would expect to pay much more (average entre price, as I recall, is under $20 and includes soup/salad and crusty bread). Our favorite dishes are the top sirloin in pepper sauce and the salmon. Chicken and pasta dishes are also excellent. There are vegetarian options and the chef will work with patrons who have special dietary needs. Don't let the classic coffee shop exterior fool you -- a first-rate eating experience awaits inside.
