About Yosemite National Park, CA
Yosemite National Park is located in central California on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is one of the first wilderness parks in the US. President Abraham Lincoln signed the bill creating the Yosemite Grant on June 30, 1864. It is nearly 1,200 square miles of deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, breathtaking waterfalls and a wilderness area sure to amaze even the most jaded visitor. The park is open all year, but most of the campgrounds close during the winter months due to snow. There are endless possibilities for fun adventures including auto touring, backpacking, biking, birdwatching, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, rock climbing, tours, water activities and winter sports. Some of the points of interest are Glacier Point (usually closed in the winter, it offers the best view of the Valley floor), Vernal, Nevada and Bridalveil falls, Half Dome (rising nearly 5,000 feet above the Valley floor, it is one of the most recognized landmarks in Yosemite), El Capitan (a favorite for experienced rock climbers, and at more than 3,000 feet above the Valley floor, it is the largest monolith of granite in the world) and the high country south of Tuolumne Meadows. The Yosemite Lodge at the Falls offers excellent accommodations for those not inclined toward camping, and The Ahwahnee is world famous and has accommodated many famous people including President John F. Kennedy. People from the world over come to Yosemite at Christmas to stay at the Ahwahnee and attend the Bracebridge Dinners Celebration. The celebration has been held annually since 1927 and transforms the hotel into a 17th century English manor for a "feast of food, song and mirth". Bracebridge Dinners has been celebrated annually since 1927, the dinner transforms The Ahwahnee into a 17th century English manor for a feast of food, song and mirth featuring over 100 players who recreate the Christmas traditions of Squire Bracebridge and his family. It is a four-hour pageant of classic carols, Renaissance rituals and entertainment culminating in a 7 course feast. Every year, hundreds of couples get married in Yosemite National Park in the meadows, by the falls, on bridges, on top of rocks. Everywhere you look there is a fabulous place to say "I do". Among the biggest companies in Yosemite are Franka M. Gabler photography, Bellissimo and All Occasion Music and Entertainment.
