Bay Computer Solutions

3.0

By Gerald Armstrong

I found Bay Computer Solutions on E-Bay. $120 mother board repair service. I sent them my laptop with a damaged HD connector. Rather than e-mail, they called. Communication was very poor. But, I was so happy they repaired the laptop in good time. I left positive feedback. However, when I got back, it wouldn't work. I had to turn it off and back on several times just to get to boot menu. I was PO'd. I called and e-mailed. They apologized and said they would fix it. Back it goes! Poor communication again. Thye had it a long time. I called and e-mailed, again I never got a response until I called the Sunnyvale police to check on it. Same problem when I got it back. I was REALLY PO'd now! I e-mailed and they offered to replace the mother board. So, back it goes a third time. They replaced the motherboard. Finally it works. Every time $15 to send it. Why didn't they check it out properly the first time? I'm happy now it has worked good so far. ...read more

I started employing Clyde soon after he started the business, In the Moment Computing. What an apropos name. He has always been right there for me. No job is too small for him. He has helped me on large jobs too, mostly over the phone. Clyde walked my husband and I through installing an updated system, helped me figure out how to print a small part of a page, get into things I didn't know existed, etc. He is very reliable and has such a calm nature and voice, perfect for my excitable nature. He never makes me feel I should have known what the problem is. It is actually fun to watch him get into my computer from his computer and I can sit back and watch the cursor whizzing around the screen. He is in the perfect business. I am not computer savvy, but he doesn't mind, he takes me for what I am. I am delighted to recommend him for all computer jobs - big or small. ...read more

Conficker Worm is Coming April 1st - Will you be a fool?

Well, if you haven't heard by now, one of the worst computer worms in current history, Conficker, is spreading rapidly throughout the Internet and will deliver its payload on April 1st. First off, Mac&Linux users can stop reading now (unless you want to help your friends using Windows PCs, Notebooks and Servers). One Easy Test to see if you're infected - Go to Symantec and Mcafee websites. If you cannot get to these sites via this blog, you may have the virus, as it blocks you from these sites. Symptoms of Conficker The worm resets System Restore points and disables a number of system services such as Windows Automatic Update, Windows Security Center, Windows Defender and Windows Error Reporting. Account lockout policies being reset automatically. Domain controllersresponding slowly to client requests. Unusual amounts of traffic on local area networks. How can you protect your machine? I know this will come as a great shock to all of my regular readers, but might be new to those of you reading for first time: 1) Run all your Windows and Microsoft Updates 2) Update and run your anti-virus software 3) Update and run your anti-spyware software 4) Run an on-line scan 5) Great Solution from Panda A vaccine for your computer and your USB hard drive/removable drives - a common way Conficker spreads. Microsoft explains Conficker. Wikipedia goes into even more details. ...read more

Reqall.com - the ultimate in Cool Phone Messaging Tools

Reqall.com is one of the coolest sites I've seen in quite some time. You call the 888 number, you dictate a message and within 30-60 seconds, you get the desired output you specify - email, text message, or website, or all 3! That's it in a nutshell, but there's more! You can send messages to it via IM, the web, the phone (iphone, windows mobile, regular cellphone), RSS feed, and calendar intergration. You can then call it and say "Recall" and it will tell you events you need to be doing today, tomorrow or next year! You set the whole thing up. What I love about it, is that it's so dang easy to use! I figured it out in about 5 minutes. It's free "for now," but I have a feeling they'll be charging or have ads in the future. Enjoy it ad-free while you can! Clyde LernerSan Jose Comptuer Repair / Sunnyvale Comptuer Repair408.732.8500We Relieve Your Technology Stress ...read more
