Sunnyvale Christian School

Fully agree with other recent reviews... Our experience with this school also left a lot to be desired. Rather, our experiences with the principal was critical in our decision to not return next year. We really liked the staff, and even feel for them as they are at the mercy of their leadership. The facilities were okay, would rather have a stand alone library and of course some foreign language instruction during school would have been great. However, the principal is a very difficult person to talk to, take problems to, or attempt to work with. My only other complaint, and one I applaud this site for, is other review sites have purged all the negative reviews for this school providing those not in the know a rosy, but woefully inadequate snapshot of this school. Apparently, the school is able to censor the content on those sites. I applaud CitySearch for maintaining the integrity of this process. ...read more

To begin with it was the many hidden extras (including having the cheek to charge you $100 if you don't sign up for script with your Safeway card!!) that got to me. And selling yoyo's the week before Christmas break when you are watching your money. But they made such a big thing about it you felt obligated to get your child one!! Okay relatively minor things I hear you say.....\t\n\t\nBut as time went on I heard too many parents sharing stories of the Principal's temper (screaming and foot stamping)... bullying incidents and her wanting people to sign documents to 'agree' with her. If you stood up to her, she would make life hard for you and many families have left due to this. It wasn't till one day I witnessed the Principal screaming at a child and this was from outside the office, that alarm bells rang. This wasn't a school where I felt I wanted my kids to be. \t\n\t\nVery sad as the teaching staff were fine and caring. The school excelled with the previous Principal. it's just tragic that the leadership is extremely poor and unqualified and this is what is bringing down the school. There are plenty of much better schools out there. Please do not consider this one! ...read more

The only positive review about the school had to be written by the Principal or at her direction. The Principal leaves a lot to be desired. She appears to have serious issues. They teach one thing but don't follow through with application. There is not a library, music room and two many children are in a small play area. The monitors don't watch the children and I have witnessed children roughhousing while they sit and stare. The bullying problem is rampant and if your kid is different watchout. I could not in good conscience recommend this school to anyone. The Principal has a Jeckle Hyde type swing depending on the circumstances. Very unprofessional. Staff appears to fear for their jobs if they take a stand for what is right. You've been warned! ...read more

Found it a very lonely place. Bullying is a big issue here and there is no leadership accountability, which is an even bigger issue. \t\nThere are no languages taught during the school day (only in after care), you have to buy a violin/flute for 4th grade/5th grade music lessons on top of what you pay in the fees for $100. And if you want to use the summer program, the feedback from the parents is they all had to take time off work to drive the kids on field trips, which defeats the object of using it!! ...read more

Most wonderful 'family' at this school. Preschool has won ""best of Sunnyvale"" for four years straight! Loving teachers and amazing space, hidden away behind Crosswalk Church. Both Pre-school and Elementary school have wonderful teachers, staff with remarkably low turn-over, and great space for about 200 children. The Elementary curriculum includes PE, Computer, Music, and Bible as well as weekly chapel services.\t\nStudents come from diverse cultures, reflecting the Silicon Valley, and are daily encouraged with character based learning, challenged to live by Biblical truth, and molded into solid citizens and future leaders. ...read more
