About Lagunitas, CA
Lagunitas is located in the western portion of the San Geronimo Valley area of California, known for its lush vegetation and Coho salmon spawning grounds. Lagunitas is in Marin county, and the closest neighbor is the town of Forest Knolls, to which the town is joined for census purposes. Lagunitas is primarily a residential community, but is home to attractions such as the Samuel P. Taylor State Park, which features over 600 acres of old-growth forest, and numerous horseback riding trails. Lagunitas is also home to the Waldorf Inspired Program, an alternative education school for both elementary and high school. Famous residents of the Lagunitas-Forest Knolls area include Steve Detwiler and Jerry Garcia.
