The Glendale Whole Foods (and maybe others?) no longer accepts more than one check per customer per week?\t\n\t\nI shopped there on Monday and wrote a check. I shopped on Tuesday and wrote another check. Their system said that I'd written ""too many checks"" and rejected the check.\t\n\t\nThe manager acknowledged to me that it did not mean I had insufficient funds in the checking account - but rather that Whole Foods would prefer me to use a debit card.\t\n\t\nSorry, I don't use debit cards.\t\n\t\nThe only thing I'd tried to buy was hot food for dinner, so Whole Foods basically lost over $20 worth of hot food... as hopefully they did not take it out of the containers and put it back...\t\n\t\nI do use credit cards, but prefer not to buy food with a credit card. I will use a credit card in the future perhaps and just let Whole Foods pay the credit card fee since they seem to think that is cheaper than processing checks. ...read more

Whole Foods Market

To be honest, I don't actually ""shop"" at Whole Foods. It's way too expensive for my taste. Organic and healthy is great, but the prices are insane. I would go broke shopping there. Instead, I usually come in for lunch or a snack. I always make a quick pass through the free samples (that's right, I'm not ashamed to admit), which depend on the market you go to. Sometimes there are a lot, and sometimes there aren't any. Why are markets so cheap with the samples? Then I stop by the make-your-own sandwich section of the market and I always get a sandwich to eat. The breads are freshly baked there and everything is fresh and well-prepared. Sandwiches are usually 5.95 for vegetarian and 6.95 for meat, and you get to choose a variety of options to put on your sandwich. I personally think a healthy sandwich here is way better than places like Subway, which boast healthy fresh sandwiches but fail to deliver. ...read more

Barring a few understocked areas at this Glendale location (Health and Beauty, for one), Whole Foods is likely the best organic goods chain store. I still prefer local heroes Trader Joe's for value (and anything pre-packaged) but for produce, supplements and take-out meals you can't beat the ol' WF. ...read more

This location is smaller than any other Whole Foods I've been in, but it's a great neighborhood store. Even though it's not large, the selection is good. They have a prepared foods-deli, a meat counter and a nice selection of wine and produce. The staff are helpful and friendly too. ...read more
