The city of Claremont is a college town located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles County, California, in the Los Angeles-Long Beach metro area and is known for its seven higher-education institutions, tree-lined streets and its historic buildings. Major attractions include watching the Claremont Symphony Orchestra perform and the Padua Hills Theatre, a historic site that was built in 1930. Claremont is home to Claremont Graduate School, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Pomona College, Pitzer College and Scripps College. One of the best places to visit when you are in Claremont is 86-acre Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, which contains some 70,000 native Californian plants.
