About Lake Havasu City, AZ
Lake Havasu City is just two and a half hours drive (153 miles) from Las Vegas Nevada, three hours from Phoenix, Arizona (208 miles) and five hours from Los Angeles, California (298 miles). It is a popular destination, known as 'Arizona's Playground' because of its arts and entertainment, fishing and water sports, and great weather. One landmark that brings visitors to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, is the actual London Bridge which was developed in the 1960s by Robert P. McCulloch. The entrepreneur and chainsaw namesake purchased the historic bridge when it was being replaced in 1968, had it disassembled and then rebuilt here to connect the lake with Thompson Bay. The lake was formed in 1938 when the Parker Dam was built on the Colorado River.
