Awful Immediate Care Clinic

This immediate care clinic is by far the worst that I have been to. I am generally a pretty healthy guy, but recently I went here to find out whether I had strep or not and get on antibiotics. Dr. Ronald Huffman, PA came in and it seemed as if he was trying to win a bet on how fast he can get through with a patient. It wasn't but until about 3 minutes into his time in the examination room that he finally introduced himself ("oh by the way I'm Mr. Huffman"). Seriously?? Who does that? If I would have been so rude as to not introduce myself by that point I would have just said forget about it.||[]||[]I used my Blue Cross Blue Shield and paid my 20 dollar copay after the literally less than 5 minute visit with the doctor and nurse combined...only to find out that when he had the nurse take a swab of the back of my throat with a glorified Q-Tip, holding down my tongue with a wooden tongue depresser that they had charged my insurance a "lab fee" for an instant test they did right in the examination room.||[]||[]So two weeks later I get a letter from insurance saying that they won't cover the cost of the lab fee because it was not done with one of their in-network providers. Med Assist did NOT inform me that the swab they were taking would constitute a lab fee, let alone a 45 dollar one.||[]||[]Maybe it's just me, but I do not believe that a Q-Tip and a wooden stick cost 45 dollars...in addition to the 20 they had already taken from me...in addition to the 70 that they billed Blue Cross.||[]||[]Moral of the story-you want extremely fast, extremely costly, extremely impersonal health care:Med Assist is the place to go!
