Several decades ago scientist determined that the use of lead in products posed an environmental and health hazard for all humans and particularly children. At that time the U.S. federal government banned the use of lead in most products. In the early 1970's, lead was removed from gasoline and subsequently from paint manufacturing in 1978. The government s effort has continued, by addressing the previous use of paint with lead, by requiring homes built before 1978 be evaluated for the possible presence of lead in painted surfaces. For several years Top Notch Lead Inspections, LLC has been and continues to be a leader in southeastern Michigan performing these federally mandated evaluations.
