Portofino Italian Restaurant & Banquet

A very bad restaurant that doesn't deserve the right of 5 stars and certainly not the name of Portofino and Italian kitchen. The restrooms were dirty. The ad mentioning the New Year's Eve dinner was untrue: we did't get the coffee nor the lentille soup and no sodas (we orderered and received water with ice instead). The staff was incompetent and badly dressed and unable to unscrew a bottle of wine. At the beginning we had to wait too long before receiving the 1st dish that was badly prepared and poor with burnt paprikas smelling vinegar and no seasonings.The 2nd was an uncleaned salad with a lack of Parmesan, pepper, salt, oil and balsamic vinegar.The quality of the ingredients was very horrible. We were served at the same time 2 main courses (pasta looking glue and the meat and fish course with cold vegetables), result: we eat the 2nd course very cold. The musical sphere was inexistant and at 1am we were pushed to the exit by the staff. We do not recommend you to eat there.

Although I've lived in this valley more years than Portofino's has been here, I had never tried it til last week end. Outstanding! Some of the best I've tried. We started with Lentil soup...and it was delicious (although, for all you vegetarians, it has a chicken broth base) I ordered Lasagne and my friend had Angel Hair pasta with tomatoes and garlic. Both dishes were the best! Perfect seasoning and served piping hot. The dinner was served with obviously made from scratch hot rolls and the aroma was to die for! I can't say enough about this place...beautiful decor, lots of room, and clean as could possibly be...kind of reminded me of the Venetian in Las Vegas on a much smaller scale. I would definitely recommend it and I can't wait to return.

Then, come here! Portofino's has won awards yearly since 1993 from Southern California restaurant writers. Their food is awesome! Their prices are great! The service is super friendly. What more can you ask for? Now I am not the hugest Ital...
