About Baltimore, MD
Located near the Chesapeake Bay on the Atlantic Ocean, the city of Baltimore, Maryland has long been one of the nation's important seaports and is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood. Once a bustling manufacturing center, Baltimore is now more of a residential community for those working in and around Washington D.C. Its large employers include Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Baltimore is assured a place in the history books as the place where Francis Scott Key, aboard a British ship during battle in 1814, composed a poem called "The Star Spangled Banner." It was later put to music and adopted as the National Anthem.
