About Charlestown, NH
Charlestown is situated between Claremont, NH and Keene, NH on the Connecticut River. It is well known for being the first line of defense for Massachusetts settlements during the French Indian War. Major attractions include the Fort at #4 History Museum and the Connecticut River. Each year during the autumn season, the leaves of Charlestown offer beautiful foliage. Two of the biggest businesses in town are Whelen, which mass-produces emergency lights for vehicles, and Bomar, which makes port windows for boats and recently parts for windmills. There are two schools in Charlestown; the Charlestown Primary School and Charlestown Elementary (Middle) School. The area high school is Fall Mountain Regional High School which is located in nearby Langdon, NH. When visiting Charlestown, be sure to fish, kayak and canoe the Connecticut River or take your kids to Patch Park and play in the fields or on the playground! Famous people from Charlestown's past include former New Hampshire governors Henry Hubbard and Ralph Metcalf as well as baseball greats, and brothers, Carleton and Calvin Fisk.
