Reviews about Newhall Philip M MD
Outstanding surgeon, highly recommend
Extremely knowledgeable and experienced surgeon who was recommended to me by several different physician friends. Office experience very pleasant- no wait, nurses friendly, Dr. Jalkut very warm and compassionate, easy to talk to, great "bedside manner." Discussed options for treatment in clear, easy-to-understand terms, answered all of my questions. Surgery went very well, no problems. Dr. Jalkut made sure my family was kept informed and made sure everyone was comfortable with the plan; he also was very attentive to pain control and to my comfort. After surgery he called me to follow-up. I could not ask for anything more. This is one of the great ones- I consider myself fortunate to have been his patient.

I have a kidney stone since May 21st that is 5-6mm. I was recommended to see Dr Leatherman at NC Urological Associates by a physcian at Rex Hospital, he was unavailable so I wound up with Dr Bennett. I saw him on May 23rd. The 1st appt I sat in a room for over 45 min without anyone coming to let me know if the Dr was going to see me & I had to ask and got an attitude from staff. I was rushed through my appt and sent home with pain meds. I have been home from work with pain and called to move up my appt with his Nurse Sherri and was given the third degree as to how I should not be home from work and how I have to be taking pain meds 24/7 a day for them to sign my sick leave papers from work. They also took over a week to address the paperwork for my job & fill it out. I was prescribed Oxycodone so I legally cannot drive. Then she finally moved my appt from Thurs to Tues for the Dr to see me sooner. I went in on June 3rd & advised I have pain. The Dr made me get a 2nd xray and I bought it back up to the office that day. They forgot to cancel my Thurs appt so I went in and was told it was cancelled. I still have not heard back about my lithotripsy and it is another week later now June 10th. There is no communication with patients and lack of care about my pain or discomfort. I have clearly advised I have a busy life & need this procedure done. I have to constantly be on top of this Dr to find out my status. I have spoken to 3 other people who have had kidney stones and they said it is ridiculous to wait over 3 weeks to have the thing removed. I have tried to get another Urologist but most are booked, I regret going here and advise others to beware when scheduling with this clinic next to Rex Hospital on Blue Ridge Rd.
