Just okay....

The food here is probably the best aspect of the entire place which is a large percentage of what most people want from an eating establishment. I had lunch with three friends today and we all enjoyed our food...the salad could have had something other than iceberg lettuce in it though...ugh. Who still serves just iceberg anyway??\t\nThe ambiance is lacking and disconnected but at least it is very clean. I see a lot of potential here if someone could pull together a theme and go with it. \t\n\t\nThe server was probably the weakest point. Our teenage server was clearly at his first serving job ever. You could hardly hear him mumble things back to you and you got the feeling he was being put out by having to walk 15 feet to get you a drink or put an order in. He clearly wouldn't cut it a restaurant in Austin. \t\n\t\nSome things we experienced today in addition to the pretty good food(it takes a long time to get the food but they do tell you this in the menu). \t\n1. After we were seated to young men walked in. One was regularly dressed, the other was barefooted and didn't have a shirt on nicely displaying his two nipple rings. Seriously...no shirt and we will still give you service? Everyone else was dressed at least business casual. This was pretty gross. \t\n2. The server seemed unaware of what was on the menu. I ordered the enchiladas that come with a side salad. When I asked him where my side salad was he was like, "What are you talking about?" I had to open the menu and show him where it was stated. He replied, "Those people got enchiladas and they didn't get a salad." And I said, you need to talk to someone and get me a salad. The cook came out with a salad and the situation was rectified. The waiter seemed to think that paying $8 was perfectly acceptable for two cheese enchiladas with no sides at all. Ugh. \t\n3. When we got our bill, there was an extra charge on the chicken salad. We tried to figure out what it might be but it was clearly stated on the menu that the grilled chicken salad came with grilled chicken and there shouldn't be an upcharge for the protein. The server said that they had revamped the menu and had trouble matching the new prices to the food or something to that effect. \t\n\t\nThe main thing about this place is that you need to be ready to wait for your food which is okay bc it tastes pretty good. This place has so much potential but unless something is done, it will be run into the ground just like so many other Leander restaurants. By just fixing up a few issues, this could be a really nice cafe but until then...marginal. The back of the house needs to give the front of the house some advice if anything...or get a better manager.

Very good food; clean interior

We went there for dinner tonight 10/2/09 (my husband and I and my parents). At first look we weren't too sure ... it looked a little run down - it's a mobile home with a patio on the front. But, we have found some of the best food at places like this. And, Moody's was no exception. The inside was very clean and bright. My dad got the hamburger and fries; my mom had eggs & sausage with biscuits & gravy; my husband chili and Philly steak sandwhich; I had the potato soup and a wedge salad. The only 'complaint' was that my husband had hoped the chili was homemade, but he thinks it was actually Hormel. Not bad, just he was hoping for something else. My soup was awesome and the wedge salad perfect - haven't had one better. My folks enjoyed their choices as well. We live on the east side of Round Rock so don't usually go to Leander for dinner. But, we will be back and we look forward to trying other things on their menu. If you haven't tried Moody's - you need to. Bon appetit.

Best Steaks in Leander

Note that they're closed for remodeling and will probably reopen the first week of Feb, 2009.\t\n\t\nI've been to moody's for breakfast and dinner and it never ceases to amaze me. The breakfasts are amazing, nice thick bacon, properly cooked eggs (not swimming in grease like some breakfast places), and fairly quick service. \t\nDinner is unreal. I had the New York Strip steak. I was nervous because it was my first time there for dinner and I ordered it medium rare. Not only did the steak come out perfectly cooked, but I could also cut it with a fork and the grill flavor was out of this world. Give it a try. I've seen too many good, family owned restaurants in this area go under. As far as i know it's still BYOB, which can make it very affordable.
