Mcfarlan Bake Shop

I purchased 2 pies, 1 creme horn, 2 cheese wafers, 2 shortbread wedges, 2 decorated cookies. The best tasting was the cheese wafers and the creme horn. All products were perfectly executed, visually perfect - alas, not much flavor. The Coconut Meringue was beautiful but rather tasteless. Vanilla flavoring might be an ingredient worth investigating. I probably won't return for more.

McFarland's Bakery HASN'T been the same, since owner/baker Arthur Rueben died years ago. The cakes are good, but Harris Teeter's bakery does just as well & charges less. The cookies taste like they are all from the same basic dough. The pastries are not as good as they used to be, but are better than what you can find in most grocery stores. Those who DON'T know any better can rave about McFarland's now. Unfortunately, many of us remember the quality that bakery ONCE had.

McFarlan's has been my favorite bakery in Hendersonville all of my life. (Over 40 years) Wonderful pastaries and breads! They made my wedding cake just last April, and it was beautiful! And taste absolutely delicious! Thanks to all of you there!
