so many better choices for vet care
They were contacted by me initially to compare the costs for euthanizing a friend's 33 year old mare. he had gotten a quote of $315 total, including the cost of the renderer for removal, from the Strasburg Vet Clinic.I spoke with the receptionist who said that they had just that morning discussed the charges for this service. She said the vet charge was $185,that she did not know the removal charge, but thought it was around $45. We made an appointment for that same morning. the horse had foundered, so was not moving much, and i was concerned that she would colic, so i wanted it done quickly. Also, it is such a difficult thing to do, once the decision is made you want to just get it done. She later informed me that the removal cost would be $175. After cancelling, i decided to go ahead anyway, since it was not that much more than the other quote. However, the total turned out to include another $70 on top of the $185. They charged a separate drug charge and a trip charge. So, unlike the strasburg vet clinic, their quotes are a ripoff and apparently they do not care about limiting their charges to the current local market. In hindsight I realize if they did that much horse care they would have euthanized plenty of horses and would know that people do not want to pay more than $400 for euthanization, when you can just shoot your own horse and pay to have it removed.

I find Dr. Casebeer thorough and respectful of the pet owner's expertise. She recognizes that you know your animal and works with you to give your pet the best care. Prices are reasonable and appointments are easy to get.
