30 yrs of great food, decent service most of the time
We have eaten at House of Louie for almost 30 yrs....it has become a family favorite and we have celebrated many happy occasions here. After being away from Portland for a few years, we came back to see that the establishment had "shrunk" in size and was not nearly as busy as it used to be. We still come for the Mandarin Chicken & Chow Fun (hard to find in many chinese restaurants) and have never once been disappointed by the food. Service used to be excellent, it has faltered on occasion, but the food is always worth it. Sad to see so many bad reviews; guess we have been very lucky with our visits here.

I've been there when the service was pretty bad, and I've been there when the service was excellent. The variety of food is pretty good, but not completely amazing. It's a good place to go for a tasty meal, but it isn't the best in Portland

We used to eat here often. Like most Chinese restaurants this one could use a good deep cleaning in the dining room. We were fine until a cockroach crawled across my son's plate. We got up and left. Didn't even pay. Haven't been back since.
