Home Instead Virginia Beach was hired to care for my 89 year old Mother who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. Aides would arrive late, one day, I stayed home from work and no aide showed up at all that day however, the office staff insisted an aide was at my residence. Then I told them I was standing in my kitchen, it was 3 hours past the time the aide should've reported but wasn't there. There's really no need to lie.
Another day, I arrived home to find my Mom covered in her own excrement. I emailed the owner to discuss my concerns however, she never responded. I called her publicly listed home phone number only for her husband to curse me out, tell me to leave him alone (I was harassing him?) and he then hung up.
The matter was reported to the Virginia Dept. of Health which resulted in the aide admitting to ignoring my Mom's needs (abuse/neglect) and failing to clean/change my Mother (for an entire shift). The VDH conducted additional observations of other employees and found they weren't capable of conducting proper infection control. Their record keeping was sub-par as well.
Prison inmates aren't treated this poorly. The real shocker was when the owner of the company gets a check from me for thousands a dollars a month and when I attempt to discuss concerns of my Mom being neglected, I get cursed out and hung up on.
These people get paid to perform a job they're clearly incapable of performing and when I try to speak with the owners, they act as if I did something wrong. You would think, at the very least, they would have some concern with what occurred and they would handle the situation in an ethical manner. It would appear they feel they can neglect and abuse whomever they please and the people who pay them have no say in how their loved ones are treated.
What's wrong with this picture and why is this joke of a business allowed to exist? Two million a year in revenue yet, they have a complete disregard for the job they do and the people they do it for. Pathetic morons.
