Hip Salon

I've had my hair cut by Jimmy for the past couple years, and I absolutely could not be happier. He has curly hair himself, and appears to truly want to listen, understand, and deliver for his clients. Each appointment begins with a dry hair consultation, wherein Jimmy pays close attention, even though it may be the same thing I say each time. He is open to any questions or concerns I have, and never appears rushed. \t\n\t\nThe folks who shampoo my hair are always amazing, massaging my scalp, leaving me feeling relaxed, and returning me to Jimmy, who gives me the long layers I want without the "stacked" or "shelf look (i.e. where the front of your hair looks incongruent with the back, or about ten inches shorter - curly gals you may know what I mean)." Jimmy always takes him time with the cut, and always blow-dries my hair straight with a round brush. It's the only time my husband really ever gets to see my hair straight, and it seriously looks unbelievable - like it's not even my hair. I can't say enough good things about this stylist. Now that I've moved out-of-state, I've still returned to him while on business travel as the stylists I tried at high-end salons in my new area cannot compare.\t\n\t\nAlso, I have had my hair colored by Nick several times. He is equally as amazing, but I am a poor color client as I don't keep up with appts frequently enough to maintain the depth of color I want. Nonetheless, from my verbal descriptions, Nick was able to deliver a vibrant deep chocolate with red highlights that were truly red (and not orange - ick!), and looked amazing. Further, he is a fantastic conversationalist and just simply lovely to work with. Like Jimmy, he is accommodating and patient, regardless of how busy the salon is.\t\n\t\nOverall, I have been thrilled with every appt I have had at HiP, and that's saying a lot for this budget-conscious, professional curly girl. You can't go wrong with these guys at HiP!

First visited Hip back in late August of 2008. Decided to get my hair colored and cut there. Hip was recommended by a coworker. Really like the new me, Makes me look and feel 10 years younger. Rachel added subtle tones to my natural color and my stylist Norma gave me a sassy style to go with it. This establishment has won me over. Just returned to get me color redone, even after just over 12 weeks the cut still holds its shape. Excellent work, thanks Rachel and Norma?..

I have been visiting Hip since its opening in 2005.\t\nEveryone in the salon is exceptional in skill and service; I have never left the salon feeing unsatisfied.\t\nThere is no comparison in the quality anywhere in the Chicago area. \t\n\t\nThis is definitely a 4 star salon.\t\n
