Reviews about Gino's Italian Restaurant
Bad food, bad service, waste of money
I read the reviews which were mostly positive so I decided to give it a try. I should have noted that all the positive reviews were from a couple of years ago. This place has definitely gone down hill if it was ever good to begin with. My first sign should have been that there wasn't a Single car in the lot. I ordered cheese ravioli and i am POSITIVE it was ragu. Couldn't even eat it. The waitress was not attentive even though we were her only table. She was sitting at a neighboring table eating pizza every time we looked around for her. At the end she knew we were unhappy so decided not to ask us how everything was. Terrible experience.

As a native New Yorker onre thing I really miss is the pizza and Gino's is the closest I've found. And thier other dishes are very good as well and the sauce is like homemade being an Italian Amerian and growing in the Bronx I am kind of a little picky when it comes to sauce no can beat my Grandma's. And the Canollies are fabulous.

We have driven by Gino's often since buying our Galveston home six years ago, but never gave it a try. We finally stopped in for dinner last night. \t\n\t\nThe restaurant is casual and cozy. The customers seemed to be a mix of touists and locals. The service is ok, mainly young folks who don't seem very experienced. There is a bit of a wait for dinner, but it is well worth it. The house salad was pretty typical lettuce with a tasty garlicky dressing. Our pasta were fantastic with a wonderful homemade sauce. He enjoyed spaghetti and sausage. I had an abundant portion of eggplant parmesian which was thin and breaded just the way I like. We will definitely be back to dine in or takeout. \t\n\t\nThe only drawback -- constant phones ringing during our meal between the estabslishment phone for take out orders and the patrons cell phones with various intrusiive ringtones. Come on , people! Vibrate mode, please. \t\n\t\nBottom line: forget about the service -- go for the sauce.
