Gemma which is Italian for “precious jewel”, was born in October of 2000, and is my Granddaughter. She was named by my father, Joseph Fugarino, a local restaurateur who was better known as Giuseppe. To Gemma he was simply Papa. One day Gemma asked me to show her how to make a cheesecake. This was the start of Gemma Rae’s Homestyle Cheesecakes. After enjoying much success we decided to open Gemma Rae’s Cheesecake Cafe in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. Specialties at this Milwaukee café include cannoli, tiramisu, cookies, cream puffs, ricotta cake and of course the best cheesecake in Milwaukee! These tasteful treats are baked daily by the owner Joann Rader.
