About Footgear

The owner started the first Birkenstock store in Michigan, over 30 years ago. The East Lansing store is divided into two unique specialty shops. The Birkenstock store sells, in addition, Finn Comfort from Germany (endorsed by Birkenstock). Foot Specialists also endorsed Finn Comfort as equal to or better than the benefits of wearing Birkenstock footwear. Other brands with anatomical benefits include THINK of Austria and MEPHISTO from France.

The other store features popular brands of comfort footwear, such as KEEN, MERRELL, CHACO, DANSKO, BORN, REEF, HAFLINGER, and SIMPLE. These brands may have a specific use to the customer, and may provide adequate support as casual or work related shoes.

In addition, Footgear has a repair department for all common repairs that maybe needed such as resoling of Birkenstock footwear. We also perform shoe repair on all other brands of shoes and sandals.

EXTREMELY RUDE OWNER!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! The owner of Footgear discriminates against many different types of people. We were refused service at this store because we told the owner that we once shopped online. If you have EVER shopped online, do not go to this store. The owner Richard is rude, arrogant, and cruel. I love to support local businesses, but this type of man makes me want to shop online to avoid nasty treatment. I have never been treated so badly in my entire life.

DO NOT go to this store!

Horrible experience! The owner is one of the worst people I have ever met in my entire life. He is rude and will not help customers. I do not know how he is still in business. Save yourself time and energy and DO NOT go to this store. Birkenstocks are great shoes but you can get them elsewhere. We went right over to Playmakers and had great service and got some excellent shoes

Owner corrected customer service mistake

Regarding the post below: the owner correctly changed his mind about the customer service issue and agreed to credit my account.I support small business but their customer service must be top notch.There should be an advantage to going to them instead of ordering online or shopping at big box stores.The advantage starts with building customer relationships through trust.

You debited my card but you didn't give me the product(because they were out).And you say 'no refund'.Well-there is nothing to refund because you never gave me anything for my $.Credit back my card!
