Reviews about Fender Museum
Not much to see here
Eh...not so great. It's kind of small, and many of the exhibits are about the museum itself (?!). They have a little display about how they make their guitars with a video showing the factory and some examples of the parts used, and displays of several notable guitars (Kurt Cobain's "Jagstang", the gold guitar from Bye Bye Birdie etc.), and a couple other amps and guitars and some info about Leo Fender's history. It takes about 20-30 minutes max to walk through the entire display. It would be much cooler if they offered tours of the factory, and this "museum" was the first or last thing you saw on the tour. But as a self-contained attraction, it's not much.\t\n\t\nThey have a small area where kids (or adults) can try out a bass guitar, electronic drum kit, or Telecaster, but they have to use really cheap headphones, and if there are more than a few kids around, it takes a while to get a turn. And you can try out instruments at Guitar Center if you really want to. Come to think of it, the Guitar Center on Sunset blvd. also has a much larger selection of vintage instruments and their own "museum", and it's free, so go there instead.\t\n\t\nIt might be worth it to stop by if you're in the area, or if they have a free concert or something. And obviously, if you live nearby and your kids can get into their free lesson program, it's awesome. But I wouldn't expect too much.
