The Waterfront at Pu'uloa

This is like a piece of heaven in Paradise! The Waterfront has everything you need to live extremely well! Lots of Space, Security, Safe private beaches, Tennis/Basketball/Volleyball courts, Fitness Center, Great Houses, Great Neighbors, Elementary School, Safe Roads, Barbecue, Cabanas, the list goes on and on. But what's REALLY special about the Waterfront, is the Extreme Management Team! These folks are beyond the best I have ever dealt with - and I have rented many times across the world! The Management team will work with you and your specific needs. The Maintenance team is phenomenal! They respond quickly, fix it, and there's no need to explain or worry about anything! There is a great Spirit of Aloha with the Carmel Folks, and I am so grateful for my experience here at the Waterfront. Most definitely a jewel of a place! Thank you Waterfront at Pu'uloa! Life is Good! ...read more

Waterfront At Puuloa

This is a comment about Melissa Martinez, she is awesome! Very professional and very patient. We ultimately made our decision to call The Waterfront our home because of the great customer service she gave. Thank you so much for helping my wife & I each time we needed to see all the different floor plans, the back and forth taking measurements, answering all our questions. It made it very easy to call The Waterfront at Puuloa our new home but it was hard for us deciding which floor plan to choose because each of garden style units and the town home unit Melissa showed us was renovated so beautifully with the light or dark laminate wood floors, new white or oak cabinets, new beige or dark grey durable countertops with energy efficient ceiling fans throughout the garden style units and central air in the town homes. What also is great for us because there is so much to do here, our children love the beach. When we came to our appointment they had activities for the children with bouncy houses and food trucks. I am looking forward to the farmers market every Wednesday and taking my dog to the nearby dog park. There is a an elementary school, gym, lagoon, walking trail, playgrounds, soccer, basket ball court, and Shoppette for us military residents. I am so excited to call this home nothing beats feeling secure because there is security at the entrance, we were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the homes are. The models are amazing, seeing them gives you insight on how to place furniture and confirms how spacious the homes are. I'm that I have the beautiful beach in walking distance, there are many huge charcoal grills seating areas, covered pavilion and covered seating on the beach. It is manicured throughout the community. I had a great experience each time I went to the leasing office the staff is very attentive and made us feel appreciated. I want to thank Melissa Martinez again for demonstrating positive energy each time, we are very impressed by her professionalism. Our house hunting have been extensive and through it all, this is the one and only place that have all the amenities and terrific customer service and we feel really good about calling the waterfront at Puuloa our new home. ...read more

Waterfront At Puuloa

As a resident for just over a year at the Waterfront at Pu'uloa we have enjoyed the all of the amenities that the Waterfront has to offer, the fitness center, beautiful beaches and nicely landscaped yards. I must say tho, my best experience has been with the Maintenance department, they are always on point and very kind to us. Ewalani is my favorite, always positive and very helpful! Since we moved from the town homes into a single family dwelling, our stay has been even better! Brandi Barr, the Resident Relations Manager, has been extremely helpful and accommodating. So far, our only down fall to the single family homes, is that we couldn't get Directv due to the location of the satellite dish, in which would be an eye soar as far as curb appeal goes. Other than that, it's been awesome! Only if we had this house when we moved in. Overall, we are now very happy! ...read more

Don’t Trust Antivirus!

Most people’s first reaction when they get a virus is to download an antivirus program. We recommend exactly the opposite. Virus removal isn’t always easy but we recommend uninstalling any antivirus and get help from a professional or completely wipe out the computer and start fresh. At AK Hawaii we offer remote support to remove viruses at any time. Antivirus, over time, has become one of the biggest online scams in existence. We’ll explain some of the reasons why in layman’s terms at first and then delve into the technical details later for all to understand. To fully grasp the reasons that antivirus doesn’t help, you need to understand how it works. When a hacker creates a virus, it’s generally built from an existing virus. They don’t want to spend the time creating their own unique one. In the past antivirus programs took advantage of this by collecting “signatures”. Signatures are a small unique piece of code that can only be found in that virus. Antivirus programs then build a huge library of signatures and compare them to the files on your computer. There are a lot of problems with this and we’ll go through each one.   SPAM AND VIRUSES Sounds ironic right? Why would an antivirus program contain spam or viruses? While most antivirus programs don’t actually contain harmful viruses, there are a few exceptions. Mackeeper  and Kaspersky . These two indefinitely contain harmful viruses. Click on each to read articles uncovering them. Other antivirus programs may not contain these really bad viruses, but they do constantly push the user to renew subscriptions, download extra tools and updates, and annoy their users with other popups. This is the definition of adware. Another reason we think it’s not worth the performance hit.   “Antivirus is the ultimate back door,” Blake Darché, a former N.S.A. operator and co-founder of Area 1 Security. “It provides consistent, reliable and remote access that can be used for any purpose, from launching a destructive attack to conducting espionage on thousands or even millions of users.” – NY Times   PERFORMANCE When an antivirus program has to check all 100,000 – 10,000,000 files on your computer for any matching signatures, plus constantly checking all running programs. It uses up a lot of resources and causes the computer to run very slow. This is another reason users assume they have viruses. The main issue is your write/write rate. Reading through each of those files, especially with a standard hard drive, utilizes 100% of the speed your drive can handle.     UNRELIABILITY The problem with using this method to look for viruses means that any new viruses, not in the library, will not be detected and continue to run free on your computer. It also means that a hacker can actually use antivirus on his own computer, scan the virus he’s creating and change the signature to prevent it from being detected. Hackers use what’s called a file-splitter. This turns the virus into thousands of smaller files. On their own they are harmless, but the hacker uses antivirus to scan all of these files and pinpoint which one contains the signature. Then they split again and again until they’ve narrowed down the code to the exact signature. Adding a simple number or letter and the antivirus has no idea. They recombine the files into one and it’s ready for infection.   Kyle Dixon Kyle Dixon is currently an IT consultant and tech writer living in Honolulu.
