Stapleton & Barrera handles a variety of cases focusing on personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and dangerous drugs. Sara Stapleton Barrera Sara graduated from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2010. She went on to be the first intern at the prestigious Trial Lawyer's College in Wyoming which produces some of the most skilled trial attorneys in the country. She understands the needs of injury victims as she spent the last nine years practicing criminal law in Brownsville. She represented hundreds of clients over that time. As a result of her experience, Sara has been a chosen speaker for events for Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association, Lubbock Area Bar Association, Cameron County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas. She is past Cameron County Bar President. She currently sits on a State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee as a panel member. Ricardo Barrera Ricardo attended Texas A&M; University at Kingsville, earning a degree in political science and graduating magna cum laude in 2006. He distinguished himself as student body president for two terms, was a member of the Texas A&M; University System Chancellor's Student Advisory Board, and founded the University Crime Stoppers Unit. Ricardo then attended Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock where he became a prominent leader and volunteered in the nonprofit sector and through church-based programs, championing human rights for children and the elderly. He graduated in 2009. Since completing law school, Ricardo has been awarded the Cameron County Bar Association Pro-Bono Award and received the Texas Tech University School of Law 2014 G.O.L.D. Award. He has a very successful family law practice in Harlingen, the Barrera Law Firm. Ricardo understands personal injury as he lost his mother at a very early age to violent crime.
