How do I find an ASL (Sign language) Interpreter?
When I first started working at an interpreting services agency in Sonoma County, there was no cohesiveness of services. Businesses and institutions that needed interpreting more often than not, called individual interpreters to try and set up services. In doing this, they had no idea how to discern between a qualified and unqualified interpreter. For example, many of the area hospitals had a list of "signers" posted near the phone in their emergency room intake area. The staff pe... Every year in December Signing Santa comes to town. Deaf and hard-of-hearing people from 90 days to 90 years-old, sit with him and tell him their wishes. The sight of a young child, eyes wide, signing "Santa understands me!" makes planning this party more than worth the effort. I'd like to know where there is a church for the deaf in Santa Rosa, CA. I recenty started taking ASL classes and am intested in attending a church service.
By on October 20, 2010Hi Patricia, There is one Deaf church in Santa Rosa and two other churches that have sign language interpreting services. You may find those at our website: www.communiqueinterpreting.com and then clicking on the "Community" tab on the top of the page and then the "community calendar" listing under that tab. Best of luck with your ASL classes. That calendar also lists other Deaf and community events that you may be interested in. Best of luck with your ASL classes! Cris
