American Discount Appliance Repair

They quoted me $55 for my washer door handle latch.... seemed fair. I had already called Sears and they have a $129 repair special includes labor. American discount was half of Sears rate. But I needed it done same day and she promised it was a simple door latch they would get it done, because they do it all the time. I urged her to call the tech but she again said it would be done. Enough said. I verified that $55 was the price and she confirmed. Done deal... not quite read on:

The tech called me on his way out to my home and I told him it was just the latch and he said he didnt have one in stock and would have to order one. He then said it would be $165 + $87 for latch. I asked why so much for a 10 minute latch installation. He said that he has to add on $100 to every job to cover the price of their $20,000 a year advertising. Well isnt that advertising how I found them? Dont they care if I become a life long customer. Does that mean every repair I call in I am charged

I called them on a sat the girl was very short with me, baby crying in background But I still made appointment for Monday for a tech to stop by and work on my GE fridge that had lost it cool and No one showed up on Monday , NO one called . Is that how you do business ? SO I looked for someone with good reviews and called them No babies screaming there. so I made appointment and they showed up the next morning. I will NEVER use this company again. They must like no business cause with customer service like that you WILL loose it all.

Frig was not cooling very well and I called American Discount based on their 30 years of service in Jacksonville. A live person actually answered and agreed to could come when I requested. Repairman called about 30 minutes ahead and ask for directions. He arrived on time and spent some time figuring out the problem and finally concluded the dust and dirt around the condensor and fan needed blowing out and cleaning. He told us how to do it and just charged a $55 fee. I spent a lot of time with a blower and vacum trying to clean it out and so far the frig is cooling better. Time will tell. He said if this doesn't work a new frig would be the best seeing this one is 16 years old and probably not worth replacing a lot of parts.
