Drowning Prevention
Living in the South Florida area should bring awareness to all parents and caretakers of children. Broward County is the leading county in the country for drownings under the age of five. It only takes a moment for a child to get away and fall into a pool. As a parent of a child who was a near drowning I urge all parents, grandparents and anyone else with children to please understand the importance of layers of protection. My child was found at the bottom of the pool at 17 months old and if I didn't know one of the layers of protection (CPR) then I would not have her now turning 25 years old and having her own child.
I am co-owner of a swim school located in Fort Laulderdale called Baby Otter Swim School. We are drowning prevention experts and have developed a unique five day program that has been saving lives for over 30 years. We developed a DVD on layers of protection in addition to our very amazing swim program. We teach kids as young as 9 months old how to save themselves if they should fall into the water.
