Where to Build an RC Model Workshop

Space is a huge consideration when deciding to take up building RC models as a hobby. You may be assembling parts that can become up to six feet in length, so you will need to have adequate space in which to work.

Inside Your Home

The best place to start building an RC model workshop is inside an existing room in your home. You need at least a table, good lighting, a cutting board and shelves to store your supplies. A spare bedroom will probably work nicely as an RC model workshop. Children should be instructed not to touch things in the workshop, as even the slightest bump can damage a piece of freshly drying adhesive. If you are working indoors, you will also want proper ventilation. You may be working with paint, glue and other hazardous materials. Make sure your room has a fan or window you can use so that the fumes do not overwhelm you.

Outside Your Home

If you are planning to build a storage shed or use a garage as an RC model workshop, you must make sure those places are climate controlled. Too much humidity, heat or cold can damage delicate RC parts. All of your model making supplies should be safely out of the elements and in cabinets for easy access. Building a workspace outside of your home can be more appealing because you can be sure that no one is touching your items if you are not there to supervise.
