What is Print Media Advertising?
Print media is advertising in print. It has been around since printing newspapers began, but of course it has changed a great deal over the years. Today, print media is most common in magazines and newspapers. However, you might also see it in posters, billboards, phone books, direct mailers, and on the sides of buses.
Magazine Advertising
Magazines reach a specific targeted group. They sell space in their magazines to businesses that are semi-related to their targeted group. For instance, a home and garden magazine might have advertisements for items that are used to better the home. Magazines have to be careful to make sure the ads they sell are conducive to their readers. The popularity of the magazine determines the cost to take out an ad.
Newspaper Advertising
Advertising via newspaper is still very popular because many people still read the newspaper daily. It has always been an effective way for advertisers to reach their target audience. They can pay to take out a full page ad on a Sunday for instance, so that they stand out from the many advertisers. Obviously, some times of the year will be more expensive. For instance, the day after Thanksgiving will cost more to be included in that print because it is the busiest shopping day of the year and shoppers expect to see the advertisements.
Phone Books
The yellow pages is still a way that works when it comes to advertising in print. The ad that is taken out will not change for at least one year. Many people still rely on the yellow pages to find local businesses, therefore, it is still quite an effective way to advertise. It can also be cost effective as well for smaller businesses.
Billboards
You may be driving on the highway and see a large billboard with advertisement on or it may be a transit type of poster. The key is they have to grab your attention quickly. After all, you only have a split second to see it as you are driving by. Therefore, these tend to have a lot of color and a huge phone number or website that is easy to remember.
