What Are The Best Media Jobs?

There are many new media jobs becoming available, as the entire media industry is changing from the forces exerted upon it by new technologies.  Even with new technology,  jobs that applicants are most likely to succeed in are the ones that best suit their personalities and aptitudes.

Consider where you want to live, as many media jobs are city dependent. Some types of media jobs are more prevalent in certain cities than others. Turner Networks, a company that includes CNN, is based in Atlanta, Georgia; so there are bound to be plenty of broadcast journalism jobs in Atlanta. New York City is known for newspaper and magazine journalism, just as the San Francisco area is known as a hub for digital media companies. There are many different jobs available in media.

  • Editor-in-Chief- Status and fame, as well as lots of money, seems to come with the territory when you're the editor in chief of a popular magazine.  The highest paying editor-in-chief opportunities are to be found in the major media markets, primarily New York and Los Angeles.

  • Producer– Although opportunities for TV producers, such as for the network news, might be stagnant, there are still many opportunities opening up in the growing field of online video.

  • Director of Publicity– A publicity director can easily make six figures and usually works in the field of book publishing.  The position entails notifying media outlets of impending book releases and author tours.
