Wedding Locations in the Mountains

While many wedding couples are perfectly happy with a traditional church wedding in the bride's or groom's hometown, there are others who prefer the scenic vistas of a wedding set in the mountains. There are several regions in the United States that are known for their gorgeous mountain scenery. Many resorts and inns in these locations are prepared with wedding packages to take care of both the ceremony and reception needs.

From the West Coast to the East Coast, the United States offers a variety of mountain locations perfectly suited for the beauty and ceremony of a wedding.

Lake Tahoe, California

On the West Coast, the Sierra Mountains surrounding the gorgeous blue of Lake Tahoe will enchant any wedding guest. Lake Tahoe is located just at the inner bend of California, with a portion of it overlapping into Nevada. Lake Tahoe offers stunning views of the expansive blue water, surrounded by pine, fir and cedar trees. There are a number of wedding companies that are specialists in this region, including High Mountain Weddings. Reno is an easy drive less than an hour north, providing additional entertainment for your out-of-town guests who want to make a vacation out of the trip.

Estes Park, Colorado

Estes Park is located 65 miles northwest of Denver. It is known for the beauty and splendor offered by the Rocky Mountains as its backdrop. There are numerous lodges that will gladly hold a wedding, including the Wild Basin Lodge, the Taharaa Mountain Lodge, Marys Lake Lodge and the Della Terra Mountain Chateau.

Asheville, North Carolina

If the wedding needs to take place on the opposite coast, look into the charming bohemian mountain town of Asheville. Located on the eastern border of North Carolina and nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville and its surrounding area is heralded, not only for the beauty of its mountains, but also the many wonderful natural waterfalls throughout the region. Hiking through mountain trails while admiring the scattered waterfalls is a prime activity in this location, should your guests look for some fun and exercise during the trip. Look into the Mountain Magnolia Inn, Sway County Inn and Gooseberry Knob as possible wedding locations.

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

For those who want the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains and the fun, kitschy charm of Dollywood, look no further than eastern Tennessee and Pigeon Forge. The area has numerous hotels and mountain cabins to house you and your guests while there to help you celebrate your wedding at any number of its various charming wedding venues, including A Wedding Cottage, Mountain Valley Chapel, Wedding Bell Chapel and Regal Chapel at Music Road Hotel.
