Steps to Choosing a Car Rental
In most cases when a consumer chooses a car rental company, it is due to an emergency. Usually consumers make their choices at the spur of the moment, which could have a negative impact if the company is not reputable. When choosing a rental car there are several factors that should be determined before picking the right car.
Transmission
Automatic or manual transmissions are the choices for the rental car. The majority in a rental company’s inventory will be automatic transmission cars. However, if overseas the inventory will be a surplus of manual transmission cars.
Passengers
Before picking the vehicle, you must decide how many passengers are travelling with you. Will you need a compact car or SUV? Are your passenger adults or children? If your passengers are mostly children, a two door compact may not be the best choice.
Fuel efficiency
Are you travelling on a long trip? If so, then a fuel-efficient car should be an option, such as a compact car or hybrid. However, if only traveling a few miles a day this may not be a concern.
Trunk
Will you need a trunk with lots of space? Are you carrying luggage or other materials that require a large trunk? Some economy compact cars will not have any trunk space at all, which is why it is important to know ahead of time what luggage you are taking.
Insurance
Will your current auto policy cover a rental car? In most cases, it will and you can avoid paying for the agency's damage insurance, which will save you money.
Test sit in the vehicle
After you have narrowed down your car choices, have your passengers sit in the vehicle to ensure comfort. The vehicle may be lacking leg room or space by each passenger and you may have to change your original choice to a larger vehicle.
