Paintless Dent Repair Tips

Paintless Dent Repair Techniques

If your car has an unsightly dent on it, you may be worried that it is going to cost you hundreds of dollars to repair it to its original condition at an expensive auto body shop. Fortunately, there are a couple of paintless dent repair techniques that you can do at home that will help you to remove the dent from your car on your own.

Standard Plunger

  1. Wet the dented area thoroughly.

  2. Apply dish soap of another lubricant to the area so that the plunger has a adequate surface to suction to.

  3. Apply the surface of the plunger to the area where your dent is located and push down hard enough to form suction between the plunger and the surface of your car.

  4. Plunge the dent in a back and forth motion until the dent has been popped out by the force of the suction of the plunger.

  5. Repeat this process until the dent is completely popped out and removed.

Compressed Air

  1. Wash the dented area thoroughly ensuring that it is clean and dirt free.

  2. Dry the dented area that you are going to be working with a microfiber towel.

  3. Apply heat to the area using a standard hairdryer; apply direct heat with your hairdryer for about five minutes. You want the area to be thoroughly heated up.

  4. Turn your can of compressed air upside down and depress the tip so that the compressed air is allowed to spray out.

  5. Spray the compressed air on the dented area so that the sudden change in temperature will cause the metal to retract, which can force the dent in your car to pop out.

  6. Continue spraying the area until the dent pops out all the way. This usually takes about thirty seconds.

  7. Allow the ice build up to melt from the surface of your car, and then wipe clean with a dry towel.
