Most Important Factors to Consider When Choosing the Right Kitchen Ventilation System
Choosing the right kitchen ventilation system is very important in removing harmful contaminants from your air, but also in keeping your kitchen grease-free and clean. There are only three things that you need to consider when choosing the right ventilation system for your kitchen.
Price: You want to get one that is affordable to your budget.
Noise: Keep in mind that noise may have to be compromised for effectiveness. A more effective system may be more noisy.
Effectiveness: This is measured in how much cubic feet of air the system can remove per minute (CFM). The larger the CFM number, the more effective the system will be.
Types of Ventilation
Updraft Hood: Installed over the cooking area and suck the air in. Either the air is sent outside the home or recirculated into the kitchen. These are more effective, but more noisy than a downdraft vent.
Downdraft Vent: Installed behind the stove and are not as effective. These are more quiet, but not as effective as an updraft hood.
