Makeup Products for Men

Women often use makeup to enhance their features and cover up their flaws. Although it seems somewhat taboo for men to wear makeup, it was common historically and is becoming more and more popular today. Ancient Egyptian men wore heavy black eyeliner and European men would powder their faces. Men’s makeup may be slightly more subtle these days, but the male makeup trend is on the rise.

  • Concealers are one of the most popular products among men as they are very inconspicuous and have the benefit of covering up acne, moles, scars, dark circles, blemishes and rough spots.

  • Bronzers are often used to make skin look tanner or deepen an existing tan, giving a healthy and all-natural looking glow.

  • In addition to concealers and bronzers, shine reduction powders are also popular for controlling excess oil and shine. Unlike concealers and bronzers, however, shine reduction products do not color to the complexion.

  • Eyeliner is used to add definition and intensity, enhancing eye color and creating an illusion of thicker eyelashes. This can be used almost imperceptibly, but just enough to draw notice to the eyes.

  • Brow gels are popular to tame unruly eyebrows. These are not just restricted to the brows; they can also be used on beards and mustaches to give a more groomed appearance. A variation of a brow gel is a styling glaze that can be used on both the brows and lashes to lengthen, thicken, control, and condition.

  • Lipstick, lip gloss and lip balm can be applied to add a little extra color or shine.  Lip maximizing serums are also sometimes used to stimulate collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis to add fullness and moisture, counteracting age-related thinning of the lips.
