Educational Requirements



 Most people that work as a human resource consultant have an educational background in either communications or business. A bachelor's degree is not required but many hiring firms find it desirable. A human resource consultant must have a good rapport with employees, managers and potential clients. They must also be able to communicate well verbally and in written form. Those interested in a career as a human resource consultant need to have a firm grasp in finance and statistics and well as other business related applications.


Duties
Human resource consultants may assist with the interview process for potential employees. This may range from simply contacting the prospective employee to set up the interview to actually conducting it. They also implement the guidelines for the company usually in the from of a handbook. They schedule orientation for new staff members, training programs, as well as maintain employee records. They are responsible for processing the necessary paperwork when an employee is hired, promoted, disciplined or terminated. Other tasks that a human resource consultant may handle are scheduling company meetings and handling the complaints and grievances of employees.

The average median salary for a human resource consultant was $84,000 with top earners making as much as $95,000 in their field. Many human resource consultants also enjoy daytime work hours of 9-5. Some occasional overtime may be required depending on the company's needs.
