How to Work With Ad Agencies
Working with an ad agency will often increase a company’s sales. The owner of the company will need to determine how much to spend on advertising before contacting an agency. Negotiating with several agencies and making them compete against each other can help the owner to get a better deal.
- Draw up an advertising budget before you start talking with different ad agencies. Come up with some advertising ideas of your own to discuss with an agency. Research different ad agencies and find the best two or three to use for the type of advertising you want.
- Contact one of the agencies and make an appointment. Explain the type of advertising you want to do when you talk with an agency representative. Take some notes during your meeting and decide if the agency is the right one to hire.
- Repeat the exploratory process with any other agencies on your list. Negotiate with the agencies to see if one of them will give you a lower price. Decide which agency to hire and sign the required paperwork. Find out when the agency can work up an ad campaign for you to review.
- Meet with the agency and go over the advertising campaign. Make any changes that you want and discuss them with the agency representative that handles your account. Determine when the agency plans to launch the campaign so you know when to start tracking the results.
- Monitor your results closely once the ad campaign begins. Stay in regular contact with the ad agency to go over your results. If you are not happy with the campaign make sure to address your concerns so the agency can make some changes. For example, you may decide to drop some of the advertisements that are not producing and increase the amount of the ads that are bringing in the results.
