How to Wash Newborn Baby Clothing

A newborn baby has skin that can be sensitive to harsh cleansing agents. When you have a newborn baby, you must be careful when you wash his or her clothing. If you are not careful when you wash a newborn's clothes, you can easily irritate the baby's skin and cause great discomfort.

Supplies needed:

  • Laundry detergent for babies

  1. Purchase a laundry detergent that
is specially made for babies. Do not use regular laundry detergent
for a newborn's clothes. Regular laundry detergent can be harsh to a
baby's skin. A rash can easily break out on the newborn's skin if
you use regular laundry detergent. Laundry detergents for babies can
be found by the regular laundry detergents.

  2. Take the newborn's clothes and put
the clothing into a pile. Start separating the clothing by color. It
is best to wash certain colors separately so that the colors do not
run and stain other colors. Colors like red can sometimes turn white
    clothing pink.

  3. Place the newborn's clothes into
the washing machine. Wash each load for the required time. This will
depend on how soiled the newborn's clothes are.

  4. Place the washed newborn's clothes
into the dryer when the clothes are finished washing. Hanging the
newborn's clothes on a clothesline is also an option. A clothesline
can be located in the basement or it can be outside. If you are
using a dryer, take care not to set the heat too high. High heat can
cause certain clothing to shrink. When the clothes are dry, you are
    finished washing them.
