How to Treat Stomach Ulcers With Natural Remedies

Stomach ulcers form in the lining of the stomach.  They usually cause sharp pains in the abdomen.  Doctors will prescribe medicine and sometimes recommend surgery to eliminate a stomach ulcer.  Before going under the knife and/or ingesting harsh chemicals, you may want to try some natural remedies designed to prevent and treat stomach ulcers.

  1. Eat foods that your body can digest easily.  These foods include fresh fruits and vegetables.  You should also drink fruit juices as these natural juices will coat and may heal the stomach.

  2. Avoid spicy foods, alcohol, tobacco and coffee.  All of these things can increase the level of the stomach's hydrochloric acid. This acid can make the ulcer worse.

  3. Drink milk and eat a banana every day.  These natural foods help soothe the stomach acid and reduce further aggravation.  For severe ulcer pain, you can eat two bananas and drink one glass of milk up to three times per day.

  4. Soak one half ounce of wood apple leaves in one cup of water overnight.  Strain the leaves and drink the water with you breakfast.  These natural remedies may sooth your stomach and reduce acid reflux.

  5. Bring one cup of water to a rolling boil.  Add one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds.  The juice from these seeds will coat the stomach and the intestines.  Allow the seeds to soak in the water for at least five minutes.  Strain and drink the fenugreek tea at least twice a day.

  6. Eliminate or reduce stress in your life. You can do this by exercising, getting a massage or practicing meditation.

  7. Consult a doctor is your ulcer continues, even after trying these natural remedies.  You stomach ulcer may be more serious and require the knowledge and skills of a professional.
