How to Start a Nissan Diesel
Most diesel trucks that are made for commercial use and are a part of the UD truck brand name usually crank up the same way. Starting a diesel truck is different from a non-diesel vehicle; however you need to know that if you do not follow the steps correctly the Nissan diesel truck will not crank up.
- Put your key into the ignition.
- Put the ignition key into the on position, after this occurs the lights in the dashboard will light up showing that the glow plugs are working properly.
- Wait about 10 seconds for the glow plug indicator light to switch off.
- Crank the engine by putting the key into the “Start” position, which should let your Nissan Diesel truck crank up without any problems.
However, there are other possibilities that can cause your Nissan not to start, below are a couple of reasons why this might occur and some helpful hints, if such a situation should arise.
- Having difficulty cranking up the Nissan diesel truck a practical option is to put the ignition key into the on position and wait for the glow plug indicator light to switch off and then put the ignition key into the off position. Do this a few times and it will allow the fuel in the diesel engine to heat up and chances of getting the truck to start will be much better.
- Cold weather is especially hard on all vehicles, but it has an unpleasant effect on the fuel by turning it to gel. There a couple of options that will help to start the Nissan diesel truck in cold weather. First, if your truck comes furnished with a heating block, plug it in a couple of hours before you need to use your truck. Second option is to put in an anti-gel preservative into your fuel tank when you go to gas up. Either of these options should alleviate the problem.
