A cupcake bakery makes the community feel happy since it can bring back memories from their childhood when their mother used to bake. Starting a cupcake bakery can allow you to earn trust from the community since they may rely on you to prepare baked goods for their meetings. Start a cupcake bakery by getting the funds needed to open the business.


  1. Start a business plan in order to help you to stay on course when starting your cupcake business. State your short term and long-term goals for the business. Make sure to outline where you would like to have your cupcake bakery.

  2. Decide on how many different cupcakes that you want to offer. Look for new recipes by purchasing cookbooks on baked goods or obtaining secret recipes from relatives. Get at least 12 different cupcake recipes to allow the customers have a selection to choose from.

  3. Find a building in your hometown where you would consider opening up your cupcake business. Search for areas where you can find heavy traffic such as a downtown area.

  4. Obtain the number of the real estate agency to discuss the possibility of buying the property. Ask the real estate agent as many questions about the building including any electrical issues. Let the real estate agent know that you want the property and plan to contact her again later.

  5. Make an appointment to speak with a loan officer about getting a business loan.   9. Purchase supplies needed including saran wrap and utensils. Purchase used utensils from the thrift store. Wash the utensils with bleach before using to sanitize them.

  10. Purchase commercial equipment needed to bake your cupcakes. Look for commercial equipment online or in stores that may sell the equipment. Have a professional install the equipment into place.

  11. Visit your local insurance agency to obtain an insurance package that includes everything from liability to disaster coverage.

  12. Place an ad in your local newspaper to let the community know you need help when you open. Look for individuals with excellent customer service skills and can bake cookies.

  13. Conduct a meeting with your staff before opening to let them know you expect of them. Answer any questions that they may have to avoid making any major mistakes on the first day.

  14. Open up the cupcake bakery on the scheduled date. Offer your customers a discount on your cupcakes on the first day to get them to buy more.
