How to Replace a Computer Fan

Computers are considered to be an asset to the owner. Proper maintenance is required to keep it running at it's best. It is not always necessary to take your computer to a technician when there is a problem. There are some things that you can repair yourself, such as replacing the computer fan.

How to Replace a Computer Fan




  1. Use a screwdriver to open the computer casing.


  2. Lay the computer down on it's side to give you a full view of the fan.


  3. Use a screwdriver to remove the fan from the motherboard. Disconnect it from the power supply and lay it aside.


  4. Install the new fan into the computer and hook it back up to the power supply. Do not attempt to run the computer without the fan because the heat may cause internal damage to the system.


  5. Put the casing back on the computer and it is ready to go.
