How Does a Tow Truck Work?

How to Remove Touch-Up Paint on a Car

After a few years your vehicle may needed a few ‘touch ups’ on the paint surface. Causes could be rocks flying from the car in front of you or maybe dings and scratches in the parking lot. Now you would like to get the touch up paint you used off the car and perhaps do a better job. Removing the paint can be an easy task.

Items you will require:

  1. Clean terry cloth towel

  2. Good automotive paint thinner

  3. Wood dowel

  • Purchase a good paint thinner from your local automotive paint shop or auto supply store.

  • Use a clean small terry cloth towel and put the thinner on. You don’t have to soak it but make certain there is enough to get the job done correctly.

  • Take the dowel and wrap the towel around it. You will be using the dowel for pressure to get the paint off the vehicle.

  • Use the dowel as leverage and wipe down the cars surface until you can see that all the paint has been removed. This shouldn’t take that long and won’t be that hard to do.

  • Clean up the auto’s surface when completed dry it well. It wouldn’t hurt if you took some wax and put a protective coating on to keep it in from possibly beginning to rust or worse until you are finished with it.

  • Whatever your plans are for the area you removed the touch-up paint from you should plan on completing the project before too long or you may end up with rust or worse in the area you originally touched up to begin with.
