How to Plan an Itinerary for Your Sightseeing Trip

How to Plan a Sightseeing trip

To plan a sightseeing trip, start by thinking about the interests of your travel group. Once you have a list of places you would like to see, you can plan out the logistics by determining how much time to spend in each place and how to travel between locations.

1. Decide which places you would live to visit. To plan a sightseeing trip that everyone will enjoy, you'll want to first create a list of the ideal locations, landmarks and events to visit. Your list might include five or six places in a single city or it may be a long list of places to visit in multiple cities, states or countries.

2. Gather information about each place. For example, if you plan to visit a museum, call and ask questions about the hours and programs. Alternatively, visit websites of various attractions to gather the information you need about cost, location and events.

3. Determine your budget for your trip. If you are on a tight budget, you can rule out the locations that will be too costly. In some cases, you may be able to find discount offers for package deals or coupons for particular events and restaurants.

4. Find the sightseeing stops on a map. Doing this will help you to determine the location of each place in relationship to other attractions, and can assist in deciding the order in which you will visit each place.

5. Allot a reasonable amount of time to each location. If members of your group are highly interested in a particular spot, allot more time. Build in a cushion of time so that you don't have to rush from activity to activity.

6. Book airfare, car rentals or train tickets in advance. You might save money by purchasing tickets in advance.
