How to Open a BBQ Restaurant
Opening a BBQ restaurant can be an exciting and profitable business venture. It can also be a headache if not planned out thoughtfully and thoroughly. Although no one can guarantee that your BBQ restaurant will be a success, if you take steps in the right direction, chances are you'll have a winner on your hands.
1. Choose your location wisely. You know what they say, "location, location, location." It doesn't matter that you've fallen in love with the potential retail space for your BBQ restaurant. If it is not in a great location with a lot of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, you'll have to work that much harder to get customers to walk through your door. Walk-by or pedestrian traffic is essential for any retail business, and if you're lacking, your BBQ restaurant venture may suffer.
2. Get the necessary permits. Before opening your BBQ restaurant, you'll need to secure the necessary permits from your local municipality. These permits include those from the building department and fire department. You'll also need a health department inspection before you will be able to display your health department certificate on your wall.
3. Allow for your advertising and marketing budget. Do not think that you can open the doors of your BBQ restaurant without first having invested in advertising and marketing. Just because you have opened your doors, doesn't mean your customers will walk through them in droves. If they don't know you exist, how will they come? You need to get the word out, and it costs money to do so in most cases, so save up and do some advertising and marketing.
4. Hire great employees. Make sure your employees are trustworthy and customer service oriented. If not, your customers will be turned off and may never return, even though you are offering them a great product, your delicious BBQ fare.
