How to Open Clothing Boutiques
Opening a clothing boutique requires the owner to do a lot of planning. Deciding on the type of clothing to offer at the boutique is one of the owner’s biggest decisions. Working with suppliers and hiring staff are also things the owner will need to do before launching the boutique.
- Think of an original name for your clothing boutique and find a good location that is accessible for customers. A shopping mall is often a good location for a clothing boutique. Call the business licensing department in your town and apply for a license. Deposit some working capital into a business account at a local bank. Work with an insurance agent and accountant to help you set up your boutique.
- Decide how many employees to hire for your clothing boutique. Set up an agreement with several different clothing suppliers to obtain the clothing you need for your store. Arrange the boutique once your initial order arrives from the various suppliers you are working with.
- Set the prices for the clothing you offer in the boutique. Mark each item that is for sale with a price ticket. Discuss various sales techniques with your staff so they are well prepared once your boutique opens up for business.
- Advertise your clothing boutique. Call the ad department at the local newspaper and put an advertisement in the business section announcing your grand opening. If you are offering discounts during the grand opening, make sure that you include a coupon in your newspaper ad.
- Buy some decorations for your grand opening. Have refreshments on-hand for everyone who attends. Make sure to try and talk with as many people as you can, even if they do not buy anything while they are at your boutique. Give each customer a business card and make sure to thank them for stopping by.
