How to Network a Copier
Many types of wireless copiers can be connected to your computer network. This makes it easy to copy important articles or projects by sending them over the network to the copier. Before you can use a wireless copier, it must be correctly connected to a network.
- Visit the copier manufacturers website to download all of the required drivers. The downloads are usually listed by copier model. If you received cd's with your copier, you can download the drivers from them instead.
- Connect the copier to the network using the appropriate cables. The types of cables required will depend on your network and the make and model of the copier. The cable should run from the copier port, located on the back or side of the copier, to the network port located on the modem or router.
- Locate and press the "Menu" button on the copier. This will bring up a list of options. Navigate to the "Settings" option and select it. Type in the copier's IP address. The copier's IP address should be a separate IP address than the one you use for other computers or machines on your network. You can contact your Internet provider to receive a new IP address that can be used to connect your copier to the network.
- Download the copier drivers onto all of the computers on the network that will be using the copier. These are the same drivers you downloaded to the copier in step one. They can be found on the copier manufacturers website.
